Volunteer Opportunities

MATS detox hospital, Albuquerque

Acupuncturist or Acudetox

This is an acute detox short-term residential facilityrun by Bernalillo County located in the SE of Albuquerque (Zuni/San Mateo area). We provide ear acupuncture for addictions based on the NADA five point protocol. Volunteer sessions are on Mondays 7-8.30pm; Wednesdays 10.30am-12.00; and Fridays 10.30am-12.00. Clients are very receptive to this simple treatment that helps them to cope with the effects of acute withdrawal and this is a very rewarding experience for volunteers who can treat between 5-20 people per shift. Time commitment is 1.5 hours every two weeks (each shift can be shared with another volunteer).
